During a routine drive through the car wash, Matrix is hauled into a junkyard in the City In-Between. Here he meets Mr. Ziggles who shows him through a crystal ball where a nine year old girl is being chased by a team of terrorists after she picks up a computer disk containing confidential drug R&D information and runs off with it. Unsure how to proceed, Mr. Ziggles tells Matrix to "think like a child". Matrix stakes out the junkyard but the young runaway foster child named Kristin is too fast on her feet. He tracks her down using a stuffed bunny rabbit and finds her hiding place in an abandoned warehouse. While Billy and Liz work to locate her biological father, Matrix catches up with Kristin and convinces her to hand over the disk but the terrorists arrive and threaten to kill her. Matrix manages to persuade Tony, an emotionally troubled goon, to turn against Roche, the head terrorist, and shoots him dead rather than harming the little girl. In the epilogue, Matrix reunites Kristin with her real father.
