Matrix: The Series - Carrie Anne Moss as Elizabeth Teel

LIZ TEEL

Along with Steven Matrix, Elizabeth 'Liz" Teel is co-owner of The Silver Flex Gym. While Matrix is a "silent" partner, Liz assumes management and daily operations that include teaching fitness classes and doing paper work. Liz is single and it's pretty obvious that she's interested in Steven as more than a business partner. She wants to know more about him as a person but Matrix is tight-lipped about his past. She has no clue what he does for a living other than he works as an independent businessman, often teaming up with Billy Hicks.

Liz thinks Matrix is a man with a good heart. She's witnessed his going out of his way to reunite a foster child with her biological father in the episode SHADOWS FROM THE PAST. And in the episode MARKED MAN, she eagerly volunteered to act as an antiques appraiser to help Billy and Matrix find a way to recoup an elderly couple's bilked retirement savings from a con-man, an assignment for which she put her own life at risk. Like Billy, Liz is a loyal partner to Matrix. On several occasions she has allowed strangers (ex-con Eddie Mayberry in DEATH AND TAXES; Lionel Meeks in A MADNESS TO HIS METHODS) temperary shelter at her health club because Matrix asked her to look after his clients. Liz also goes out of her way to look after Matrix. She managed to persuade Murray the landlord not to cancel Matrix's condo lease. And when Matrix caught the flu, she nursed him back to health with her secret blend of herbal remedies.

CARRIE-ANNE MOSS

Carrie-Anne Moss was born on 21 August 1967 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She started out doing small theatre productions and moved to Europe and Japan to pursue work as a model. Her first tv series was a production filmed in Barcelona, Spain, titled DARK JUSTICE in 1991. After one year, the series moved filming back to Los Angeles. Carrie-Anne remained in California and appeared in several small budget films and worked regularly on a number of television series that were short lived. These included a one year stint on the Aaron Spelling production MODELS INC. in 1994, and in 1996 she relocated to Toronto for the sci-fi series F/X, playing the role of Lucinda Scott for another year. While in Toronto, she guest starred on a second season episode of the hit Canadian drama series DUE SOUTH titled "Juliet Is Bleeding." Her appearance as Irene Zuko who was torn between her love for a police officer and her loyalty to her brother, earned Carrie-Anne a Gemini award nomination for BEST ACTRESS in a guest appearance category.

In 1999 Carrie-Anne co-starred in a blockbuster film called MATRIX. Though she had appeared in the Matrix tv series, there were no associations with the action sci-fi film of the same name. Her role as a tough female soldier/warrior named Trinity has garnered international attention and recognition. She has graced the covers of entertainment and fashion magazines in many countries, and a huge amount of memorabilia and merchandising in the form of action figures, video and computer games have been manufactured, including a separate two hour DVD titled "Matrix Revisited", a look behind the scenes of the movie. Since then, Carrie-Anne has been working on two further Matrix sequels at the same time with scheduled release dates for Spring and Fall 2003. And in between she has worked on a number of small films which have received critical acclaim; most notably, the 2000 film "Memento" starring Guy Pearce (Time Machine; Ravenous) and Joe Pantoliano (The Sopranos 3rd & 4th season). In 2002, Carrie-Anne won for Best Supporting Actress in the Independent Spirit Awards. It's been a lengthy wait for the MATRIX sequels, but both sequels plus a mystery/thriller action film starring Ben Kingsley called "Suspect Zero" scheduled for release in October 2003, will make Carrie-Anne Moss one of the most recognizable and popular actresses this year.
