Collateral Damage

Jeffrey Winter - Stage Manager    Tom Reeves at Inquiry

Matrix calls on one of his mob contacts, Martin Marks, to get him inside a closed military hearing after Jeremy Winter, a theatre Stage Manager in the City In-Between, asks him to come to the aid of Captain Tom Reeves, a young Air Force pilot accused of negligence on the job that resulted in the bombing deaths of a convoy of non-combatants in a war. Reeves contends he was given the wrong targeting co-ordinates that led to the tragedy, but his team of pilots, including his superior, Major Stryker, lead the offence to have Reeves removed from the Black Dog Squadron. Reeves personal life is endangered when his neighbour, Joseph Haddad, posing as a transmission mechanic, sets up a radio bomb in his car that nearly kills his wife and infant son. The neighbour is actually a soldier who blames Reeves for the bombing deaths of his family and had been plotting revenge by moving close to him. After Billy breaks into the confidential military department working files and Matrix discovers that it was Stryker's adminstrative errors and his eventual cover-up by changing maps, memos, and drawings as court evidence, Reeves is cleared of all charges, but not before Haddad is shot to death in the court room by Martin Marks, for reasons not clearly explained.
